About Construction.MN

What does Construction.MN do?

We help homeowners understand, plan, and move forward with home improvement projects. That may mean answering questions, helping you understand a problem, connecting you with the right contractor, or helping define the scope of a project before work begins.

If you choose to work with one of our contractor partners, we remain available to help facilitate communication throughout the project. We can also help you better understand storm damage and the information involved when insurance may be part of the project.

When you contact a contractor directly, you’re starting with that contractor’s particular services, products, and approach.

Construction.MN starts with you and your project. We first try to understand what you need, then help identify the appropriate type of contractor or solution. When one of our contractor partners is a good fit, we can make the connection and remain available to help facilitate communication throughout the project.

You still make the decisions—we simply help you make them with better information.

We help homeowners with home improvement projects of all sizes—inside and out. Whether you know exactly what you need or just want to talk through a problem or idea, we can help you figure out the next step.

Project Consulting – Have a problem with your home but aren’t sure who to call? Thinking about a home improvement project and want to discuss your options before contacting contractors? We can help you understand the project and determine what type of professional you may need.

Exterior Projects – For roofing, siding, and window projects, we can connect you with qualified contractors. In many cases, we are also authorized to provide estimates and proposals on their behalf.

Interior & Trade Work – Need a plumber, electrician, painter, concrete contractor, handyman, or another specialty trade? We have connections with professionals across a wide range of home improvement services.

Insurance Claims – If storm or other damage may involve your homeowner’s insurance, we can help you understand the project and whether contacting your insurance company may make sense before you begin the claims process.

Yes—we can. Many contractors in our network also work on commercial projects. If you have a project in mind, call or text us at 952-266-7200, and we’ll help you explore options that fit your project.

We primarily serve homeowners throughout the seven-county Minneapolis–Saint Paul metro area.

If you’re located elsewhere in Minnesota, feel free to contact us. While we may not yet have contractor partners available in every area, we can still provide construction advice and help you think through your project.

We are compensated by our contractor partners when we help connect them with qualified homeowners and projects. Homeowners are not charged a referral fee for being connected with one of our contractors.

We also do not distribute your information to multiple contractors like lead-generating companies often do. We take the time to understand your project and match your needs with contractors whose experience and specialties are a good fit.

Getting Started

We’ll start with a conversation about your project, problem, or idea. In many cases, that begins with our free 30-minute phone consultation.

From there, we’ll help determine the next step. You may simply need some advice, or your project may benefit from a site visit, inspection, contractor consultation, insurance estimate review, or help documenting the scope of work.

If we recommend a service that has a fee, we’ll explain the cost before anything is scheduled. If a contractor from our network is a good fit for the project, we can also help make that connection.

Yes. Sometimes a problem can be identified—or even resolved—during the free 30-minute phone consultation. If we need to see the issue in person to better understand what’s going on, we’ll recommend a site visit and explain any associated fee before scheduling.

Absolutely. Whether you’re planning to hire a contractor, do the work yourself, or just weighing your options, having the right information upfront makes all the difference. We’re here to answer your questions, help you plan, and support you when the time is right—no pressure.

We offer a free 30-minute phone consultation to discuss your project, answer initial questions, and determine whether a site visit or other consultation would be helpful.

Most on-site consultations do have a fee. We’ll explain the cost before scheduling so you know exactly what to expect.

If you move forward with one of our recommended contractors within 30 days of the consultation, we’ll credit the consultation fee to the project. No surprises—we’ll always discuss any fees with you upfront.

Working With Contractors & Insurance

We only recommend contractors who are properly licensed and insured when required for their trade and who have an established working relationship with us.

We look for quality workmanship, good communication, ethical business practices, and a strong track record. We also consider the type of work each contractor specializes in so we can make a connection that fits your particular project.

No. You are under no obligation to use any contractor in our network. If you do choose to work with any of our contractor partners, Construction.MN remains available to help facilitate communication if questions or concerns come up during the project, including workmanship concerns, scheduling delays, billing questions, or other project-related issues.

That’s exactly why we exist. Many homeowners come to us after dealing with delays, poor workmanship, or unresponsive contractors. We provide structure, transparency, and support from start to finish.

We can help you understand the process and provide practical guidance. While we don’t offer legal advice, we can review your insurance estimate, help you understand the information in your insurance estimate, and help clear up any confusion. If you’re having issues with a contractor, we can offer suggestions for how to move forward and help identify possible next steps.

In some cases, this may be a billable service—but we’ll always let you know in advance so there are no surprises.
